Why not? Yeah I know they are busy but I need some extra work. One thing that would be cool to introduce would be a program allowing the harvest of the deer in the first picture that is clearly a mature buck with genetics keeping him below harvest.Ĭould the TPW allow hunters to present photos and gain an exemption tag for that particular animal? Now for a possible solution to posters delima My issue is the AR counties with limited doe days anywhere from 4 days to 2 weeks-this is not enough time for weekend hunters. This also did something else to some hard core non doe shooters.if they really wanted meat as they claimed they started shooting does. Well the first year I thought our normal volume increase was down but since then then numbers went back to normal increases and guys that vehemently resisted started seeing more mature bucks and started to really enjoy it. For 22 years I ran a processing center and thought when implemented it would hurt business. Then his son said "dad tell them about those big bucks we have been seeing"! I couldnt help myself I said "young man with the new antler restrictions your gonna see more and more"! Give it time. The father was ranting on about why should the state tell him what size deer he could shoot. I was having a conversation at our East Texas deer lease with a father and son. As a matter of fact I tell them its for there future hunting. Now they are more and more.Heck we even see bucks making scrapes and chasing does.I dont have a problem telling my child to pass on a deer. Do you think the DPS office writint the ticket cares why you were speeding? No, all he is gonna tell you is "tell it to the judge".I agree totally! Growing up in Fayette county there were hardly any bucks. You know whats going to happen if you get caught. How many of yall drive faster than the speed limit? Most will follow the law, but there are those that will push it. Too many 2 1/2 year old deer will be killed again, because "I thought he was older". Not enough people out there can age deer. The state is not going to put in exceptions to the 13" rule. Use the AR rule as a teaching tool, not as an excuse to break the law. They have restrictions, just not state mandated. you cant kill whatever you want on those high dollar ranches. What if you took the same "new hunter" to a south texas lease for their first hunt. What a difference a few years will make! Bigger bucks, more deer and more healthier deer. Those counties were three of the original 6 in the AR counties. When I was a kid, you were lucky if you saw a buck in colorado/ lavaca/ counties. Yep, the AR rule does have its flaws, but I am all for it.
